Atlantic Democrats Hold Successful 46th Annual Convention

(SOMERS POINT) The Atlantic County Democratic Committee held a successful virtual 46th Annual Democratic Convention this afternoon. The Atlantic County Democrats have the longest-running continuous nominating convention in the history of the State of New Jersey.

"Despite the challenges of COVID-19, we still had a stellar virtual Convention," said Chairman Michael Suleiman. "Our members are fired up and ready to elect Democrats up and down the ballot this fall."

212 delegates voted in the virtual Convention, and over 240 active Democrats watched the Convention. The Convention endorsed the following candidates:

  • Governor - Phil Murphy

  • State Senate (District 2) - Vince Mazzeo

  • General Assembly (District 2) - John Armato & Caren Fitzpatrick

  • County Clerk - Lisa Jiampetti

  • Commissioner-at-Large - Celeste Fernandez

  • Commissioner District 2 - Jelani Gandy

  • Commissioner District 5 - Dr. Bill Beyers

Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill delivered the keynote address.
